Featured Volunteers

The Elora Festival and Singers relies on its 270 volunteers to provide a full range of services in support of our year-round celebration of music. Whether it is billeting artists, ushering at concerts, assisting in the office, helping with fund raising events or serving on the Board, each volunteer plays a key role in the organization’s success. EFS gratefully acknowledges the contribution and dedication of its volunteers. We invite you to visit this site often and meet some of them.

Meet Roberta "Bobbie" Bleiler

Bobbie Bleiler

Born in Chatham, NB as the eldest of 9, Bobbie lives in Waterloo with her dog Luckie and shares her house with her daughter Erin. She left picturesque New Brunswick at six months old to go to Grandma’s. Before coming to Elora, she enjoyed time in Toronto, Kitchener and Georgetown and Milton.

Prior to retirement, Bobbie worked at VWR International as administrative assistant to Comptroller and Human Resources. Owned and ran The Paper Factory in Milton and Georgetown. In her spare time, she is very active hiking and biking along the Bruce Trail twice a week, swimming, curling, and cross country skiing. She loves music, listening to everything from jazz to classical.

Bobbie has dedicated her time to the community by volunteering with the Special Olympics and the Perimeter Institute as well as being a Board Member of a Nursery School. She enjoys volunteering because it allows her to meet new people and get involved with the community. We are glad to welcome Bobbie to our volunteer team!

Meet Harold and Margaret Plue

Marg and Harold Plue

Harold and Margret Plue have lived in Canada all their lives. They began their married life in Toronto, and raised 3 children there. They are now the proud grandparents of 4 grandchildren. After ten years of city life, they settled in Fergus to be closer to family and because it offered ample opportunity for their active life style. They soon moved to Elora and were the very first residents of Station Square.

Both Harold and Margaret had long and fine careers. Harold worked for Ontario Hydro for 36 years; and for 35 years, Margaret was a registered nurse, 10 of those years nursing with the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON).

They have been very active at every stage of life: white water canoeing and ocean kayaking in places like the Queen Charlotte Islands, Mexico and the Caribbean; biking; golf; and bridge. Harold and Margret are very involved in the community beyond their contributions to the Festival. Harold is a member of the Fergus & District Camera Club and Fergus Lions; Margaret is a tenor with the CW Singers. They both enjoy volunteering at the Festival as they get to meet new people and give back to the community.
